Pag-apruba ng Kamara sa pagpapalawig ng Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, welcome sa CHR

Welcome sa Commission on Human Rights (CHR) ang pag-apruba ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso sa pagpapalawig ng Republic Act no. 9262 o Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.

Sa ilalim ng House Bill 5869, ikokonsidera na bilang porma ng karahasan sa mga kababaihan gamit ang teknolohiya tulad ng stalking, pagha-harass sa text messages at chat at pagpapakalat ng video.

Sa inilabas na pahayag, sinabi ni Atty. Jacqueline Ann de Guia, tagapagsalita ng CHR, na bahagi na ang digital technology sa araw-araw na pamumuhay ng mga tao.

Importante aniyang mapalawig o iapela ang pagpapalawak ng sakop ng mga batas kasunod ng mga bagong pagsubok na kinakaharap ng mga kabataan bunsod ng electronic abuse.

Dagdag pa ni de Guia, makakatulong ang batas para mapaigting ang mga batas na poprotekta sa mga kababaihan at kabataan mula sa online abuse, stalking, exploitation at iba pa.

Maliban dito, tulong din aniya ito para makatanggap ng psychological at medical counseling, at livelihood assistance ang mga biktima nito mula sa Department of Health (DOH) at Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“The Commission, as the Gender Ombud, welcomes this bill and hopes that the Senate expedites the passage of this bill
to ensure that the internet remains a safe space for all members of the vulnerable sector,” ayon pa kay de Guia.
