Quo warranto petition inihain ng Office of the Solicitor General vs ABS-CBN
Naghain ng quo warranto petition sa Korte Suprema si Solicitor General Jose Calida para hilingin na mapawalang bisa ang prangkisa ng ABS-CBN.
Respondent sa inihaing petisyon ni Calida ang ABS-CBN Corporation at ABS-CBN Convergence, Inc.
Nakasaad na inihahain ang quo warranto sa ilalim ng section 5 (1), Article VIII ng 1987 Constitution at Rule 66 ng Rules of Court.
Ayon sa very urgent omnibus motion ng SolGen, ilegal na ginagamit ng ABS-CBN ang prangkisa nito sa ilalim ng RA 7966 at RA 8332.
Nais ng SolGen na matuldukan ang umano ay ‘highly abusive practice’ sa panig ng ABS-CBN.
Partikular na binanggit ni Calida ang pagkakaroon umano ng foreign investors sa ABS-CBN na malinaw na paglabag sa foreign interest restriction sa mass media.
