Mga naaresto dahil sa umiiral na election gun ban, higit 500 na

gun-banUmakyat na sa mahigit limangdaan katao ang naaresto dahil sa paglabag sa election gun ban ayon sa Philippine National Police.

Ayon kay Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor, ang tagapagsalita ng PNP, umabot na sa 507 ang eksaktong bilang ang nahulihan ng mga baril simula nang ipatupad ng Commission on Elections ang gun ban noong January 10.

Kabilang na dito ang 490 na sibilyan, dalawang police officers, apat na government officials, anim na security guards, apat na empleyado ng isang law enforcement agency at dalawang miyembro ng Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit.

Dagdag ni Mayor, nakumpiska ng PNP ang 304 na mga baril, 3,028 na nakamamatay na armas, labing apat na granada, labing dalawang replica ng baril at 2,995 ammunitions.

Ang gun ban ay ipinatupad ng PNP at ng iba pang law enforcement agencies alinsunod sa magaganap na local at national elections sa Mayo.

Tiniyak naman ni PNP chief Police Director General Ricardo Marquez na mananatiling alisto ang kanilang puwersa upang masiguro na ligtas at patas ang eleksyon.
