Maaapektuhan ang disaster response ng bansa kapag natuloy ang nais ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na i-terminate ang Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) dahil malaki ang naitutulong ng bansang Amerika sa atin bansa.
Ayon kay House Committee on National Defense Senior Vice Chair Ruffy Biazon, halimbawa na lamang ng tulong na ipinaabot ng Amerika ay ang ayuda sa mga naapektuhan ng Bagyong Yolanda.
Malaki rin umano ang nakukuhang tulong ng bansa sa defense ang security at mga defense strategy.
