BI, sinuspinde ang isang travel agency na nagdu-duplicate ng mga visa
Sinuspinde ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang accreditation ng isang travel agency matapos mapaulat na nagdu-duplicate ito ng mga aprubadong visa order.
Sa inilabas na pahayag, sinabi ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente na mayroon silang ebidensiya na pinayagan ng travel agency ang ilang Chinese national na makapag-avail ng visa upon arrival (VUA) facility sa pamamagitan ng fraud, misrepresentation o false information.
Nakatanggap kasi aniya sila ng ulat mula sa kanilang mga tauhan sa mga paliparan na nakahuli sila ng ilang Chinese national na nagprisinta ng mga pekeng VUA order.
“What these illegals do not know is that we have incorporated VUA records in our computer systems since early last year, hence visas are immediately verified upon presentation to the officer,” ani Morente.
Dahil dito, pinagsusumite ng BI ang travel agency ng written explanation kung bakit hindi dapat makansela ang kaniyang accreditation at kung bakit hindi dapat ma-forfiet ang cash bond nito.
Ayon pa ng Morente, nagpatupad sila ng mas mahigpit na panuntunan para hindi na muling mapeke ang mga VUA.
“Apart from real time system verification, we have also instituted the Special Operations Communications Unit (SOCU) that conducts checking and auditing of VUAs encountered at our ports,” ayon kay Morente.
Tumanggi naman ang BI na banggitin ang pangalan ng travel agency bunsod ng isinasagawang imbestigasyon.
