Mismong sa harap ni Pangulong Duterte at mga bakwit ng pagsabog ng Bulkang Taal nanumpa si Gen. Gamboa sa Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) gymnasium.
Pagkatapos ng oath taking, isinagawa ang donning of rank matapos itaas sa four-star rank si Gamboa.
Itinalaga ng pangulo si Gamboa matapos maabot ni dating PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde ang mandatory retirement.
Nasa Sto. Tomas, Batangas ang pangulo, Lunes ng hapon, para mamigay ng relief goods sa mga bakwit ng pag-alburito ng Bulkang Taal.
