Quo warranto petition ng OSG vs ABS-CBN, walang kumpas ni Pangulong Duterte

Tiniyak ng Palasyo ng Malakanyang na walang kumpas ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang ikinakasang quo warranto petition ng Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) sa Supreme Court laban sa prangkisa ng ABS-CBN.

Ayon kay Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo, tungkulin ni Solicitor General Jose Calida na maghain ng kaso kung sa tingin nito ay may paglabag sa prangkisa o batas ang ABS-CBN o sinuman.

“Ang ibig mong sabihin kung may instruction ang Presidente? Wala. Trabaho kasi ‘yun ni SolGen as I’ve said earlier,” ani Panelo.

Hindi aniya maaring ikatwiran ng ABS-CBN na paglabag sa press freedom kung hindi man mare-renew ang prangkisa nito kung makikitaan ng paglabag sa batas.

“Not really. You must remember that the job of the SolGen is to file the appropriate petitions when he sees or feels that there is a transgression of franchises or any law for that matter,” ayon kay Panelo.

Una nang napaulat na maghahain ng quo warranto petition ang OSG sa Supreme Court dahil sa paglabag umano ng ABS-CBN sa terms and conditions sa prangkisa.

Aminado naman si Panelo na hindi pa nakakausap ng Palasyo si Calida.

Hindi pa aniya nakikita ng Palasyo ang petisyon o kung nabalangkas na ito ng OSG.

Matatandaang sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte na mas makabubuting ibenta na lamang ang ABS-CBN.

Nakatakdang mag-expire ang prangkisa ng ABS-CBN sa Marso sa 2020.
