Naglabas ang Department of Health (DOH) ng listahan ng mga gamot na isinailalim sa price freeze sa lahat ng lugar na apektado ng pag-alboroto ng Bulkang Taal.
Ayon kay Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, ito ay matapos makatanggap ng mga ulat ang kagawaran ukol sa hoarding at pagtataas ng presyo ng ilang gamot.
“It is abhorrent that there are people who take advantage of public emergencies and profit at the expense of our suffering of countrymen,” ani Duque.
Layon aniya nitong maprotektahan ang mga konsyumer laban sa profiteering, hoarding, cartels at iba pa na maaaring makompromiso ang pagkuha ng pharmaceutical products at iba pang pangangailangan lalo na sa panahon ng kalamidad.
“It is the mandate of the Department of Health to protect the Filipino people against life-threatening situations, including those that prevent them from seeking the right and adequate products and services when they need it the most,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
Sakop ng price freeze ang maintenance medicines at essential drugs kabilang ang analgesics, anti-allergics, anticonvulsants, antiseptics, antidotes, at antibiotics.
Nilinaw ng DOH na epektibo ang price freeze sa mga lugar na isinailalim sa state of calamity.
