Unang batch ng OFW mula Iraq, nakauwi na ng bansa

Nakauwi na ng Pilipinas ang unang batch ng overseas Filipino workers (OFW) mula sa Iraq, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Mula sa Baghdad at Erbil sa Iraq, ayon sa DFA, ligtas na nakarating ang 13 Filipino, kasama ang dalawang menor de edad, sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Miyerkules ng hapon.

Sinalubong ang mga OFW ng mga tauhan ng DFA-Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs.

Base sa direktiba ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr., nakipagpulong ang DFA kay Iraqi Chargè d’Affaires para talakayin ang mga na-stranded na Filipino noong January 14.

Pabor naman ang Iraqi government sa hiling ng Pilipinas na kooperasyon para sa kaligtasan ng mga Filipino sa nasabing bansa.

“The DFA expresses its profound gratitude and appreciation to the Iraqi government, in particular the Iraqi Embassy in Manila, for their invaluable assistance and cooperation in expediting the repatriation of our kababayan,” ayon sa kagawaran.
