May hinirang nang bagong chief of staff ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Hinirang ng pangulo si Eastern Command chief Lt. Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. para pamunuan ang AFP kapalit ni outgoing AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Noel Clement na nakatakdang magretiro ngayong buwan.

Ayon kay Senator Bong Go, pangungunahan ni Pangulong Duterte ang turnover ceremony sa para sa bagong AFP chief sa Sabado, January 4.

Si Santos ay miyembro ng Philippine Military Academy “Sinagtala” Class of 1986.

Bago maging pinuno ng Eastmincom, siya ay namuno din sa 7th Infantry Division ng Philippine Army.
