Firecraker-related injuries sa Salubong 2020 mababa ng 35% kumpara 2019

Bumaba ang bilang ng mga nabiktima ng paputok sa pagsalubong sa 2020 kumpara noong 2019.

Sa pulong balitaan sa East Avenue Medical Center sa Quezon City araw ng Miyerkules, sinabi ni Health Sec. Francisco Duque III na 164 ang bilang ng nasaktan sa paputok mula noong December 21.

Mas mababa ito ng 35% kumpara sa 251 kaso na naitala noong nakaraang taon.

Gayundin, ang firecracker-related injuries ngayong Salubong 2020 ay mababa rin ng 71% kumpara sa 5-year average na 403 cases mula 2014 hanggang 2018.

Aminado naman ang kalihim na tataas pa ang bilang dahil hanggang January 5 ang kanilang monitoring.

Ikinatuwa ni Duque ang pagbaba ng bilang ng mga biktima ng paputok ngunit hindi anya titigil ang gobyerno hanggang maitala ang zero casualty.

“We were able to reduce cases by as much as 35 percent. This is indeed a welcome development, but we will not stop until we achieve zero fireworks-related injuries,” ani Duque.

Pinakamalaki ang bilang ng nasaktan sa paputok sa Metro Manila na nakapagtala ng 84 biktima.

Pinakamarami sa Maynila na sinundan ng Quezon City, Mandaluyong at Las Piñas.

Karamihan ay nasaktan ng kwitis, lucis, fountain at piccolo.

Samantala, ayon sa DOH, walang namatay dahil sa paputok at wala ring naitalang biktima ng stray bullets.
