Duterte ipinag-utos ang pagsasagawa ng silent drills sa Rizal Park
Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa militar ang pagsasagawa ng arawang silent drills para bigyang-pugay si Jose Rizal at ang bansa.
Ang utos ay ibinigay ng pangulo sa kasagsagan ng talumpati sa kauna-unahang Presidential Silent Drill Competition sa Quirino Grandstand, araw ng Biyernes.
Ayon kay Duterte, nakita niya sa China ang pagsasagawa ng drills kada paglubog ng araw.
Nais niyang gawin din ito kada araw sa harapan ng monumento ni Rizal sa Luneta.
“I was inspired when I went to China. Kasi every sundown, meron silang drill. A drill before the flag is lowered. And people congregate every afternoon to see the drill performed by the different units assigned for that day,” ani Duterte.
“I want you to go into a sort of an activity to honor Rizal at ang ating bayan. Do it and I order it every day. It will be spearheaded by the Armed Forces of the Philippines and those who’d like to participate,” dagdag ng pangulo.
Sa kanyang talumpati, hinimok ni Duterte ang mga kabataan na sumali sa Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program.
Muling sinabi ng pangulo na maituturo sa ROTC ang disiplina at pagmamahal sa bayan.
