Hatol na habambuhay na pagkabilanggo sa pamilya Ampatuan, isang selebrasyon ayon sa PCOO, PTFoMS at PHRCS
Hindi lamang ang Pilipinas kundi ang buong mundo ang nagdiriwang ngayon nang hatulan ng guilty at habangbuhay na pagkabilanggi si pamilya ni Datu Andal Ampatuan Jr. na utak sa pagmasaker sa limampu’t walo katao kabilang na ang tatlumpu’t dalawang mamamahayag sa Mamasapano, Maguindanao noong November 2009.
Ayon kay Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) secretary at Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) co-chairman Martin Andanar, malakas ang mensahe ng Pilipinas na walang sinasanto kahit pa ang makapangyarihang pulitiko na nagkakasala sa batas.
“There is no doubt that the punishment leveled against perpetrators of this dastardly act shall send a clear and strong signal to powerful politicians here and abroad, that freedom lovers around the globe can, should and will close ranks in making them accountable. This latest development has brought back the Philippines to the commune of nations that value, uphold and protect human rights and dignity. For there is no better way to showcase our effective democratic mechanisms than by holding criminals to account for their misdeeds,” ayon kay Andanar
Tiyak aniyang matatandaan ang araw na ito na nanaig ang hustisya.
Sinabi pa ni Andanar na noon pa man umaasa na ang kanilang hanay na makakamit din ang hustisya ng mga biktima ng masaker.
“As I’ve said before, criminals who murder or in any way endanger journalists in this part of the world will not go unpunished. This is justice. It was admittedly a slow process but we have to go though it as warranted by our democratic system,” ayon kay Andanar.
Ayon kay Andanar, dahil sa naging desisyon ni Judge Jocelyn Solis Reyes, naibalik muli ang imahe ng Pilipinas na kumikilala at nagpoprotekta sa karapatang pantao at dignidad ng bawat isa.
Sinabi naman ni Presidential Human Rights Committee Secretariat (PHRCS) Undersecretary Severo Catura na sa matagal na panahon, ginamit ng mga kritiko ang Ampatuan massacare para ilarawan ang lagay ng karapatang pantao sa Pilipinas.
Sa panig ni Presidential Task Force on Media Security Undersecretary Joel Egco, isang malaking selebrasyon ang araw na ito para sa press freedom, freedom of expression at human rights.
