Mas mabigat na parusa sa mga maninira o magnanakaw ng road signs pasado na sa komite sa Kamara

Inindorso na ng House Committee on Revision of Laws para aprubahan sa plenaryo ang panukalang batas na magpapataw ng mas mabigat na parusa sa pagnanakaw o paninira ng mga road sign at iba pang warning devices, accessories at pasilidad.

Ito’y makaraang aprubahan ng komite ang House Bill No. 2090 ni Deputy Speaker at Batangas Rep. Raneo Abu.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, papatawan ng 12 hanggang 15 taong pagkakulong o multang P200,000 hanggang P300,000 ang mga magnanakaw ng road signages.

Ayon kay Abu, ang mga road signage ay ikinabit para sa kaligtasan ng mga motorista at pedestrians.

Pero base sa datos ng DPWH, aabot sa mahigit 42 libong piraso nang naikabit na signages ang nanakaw at sinira hanggang noong January 2013.

Sa kasalukuyang batas, hindi sakop ng pinaparusahan ang pagnanakaw ng traffic signage, warning signs at traffic protective devices gaya ng manhole at highway o bridge railings.
