DOLE muling nagpaalala sa pagbibigay ng 13th month pay
Pinaalalahanan ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) araw ng Miyerkules ang mga kumpanya sa pribadong sektor sa pagbibigay ng 13th month pay sa mga manggagawa.
Sa isang panayam, sinabi ni Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III na mayroon lamang hanggang December 24 ang mga kumpanya na ibigay ang naturang cash benefit.
Ayon kay Bello, mandato sa batas ang pagbibigay nito kahit pa ang kumpanya ay kumikita o hindi.
“This is a reminder to our employers not to forget. The law is clear that you have to give your employees on or before Christmas Day their 13th-month pay. It doesn’t matter if you’re earning or not, you are mandated by law. Employees are entitled to 13th-month pay on or before December 25. There are other employers who released half of it middle of the year but they should give it,” ani Bello.
Paliwanag pa ng kalihim, hindi pwedeng ibigay ang 13th month pay ng ‘in kind’ at kailangang cash ang matanggap ng mga empleyado.
Babala ni Bello, maaaring idemanda ang mga kumpanyang mabibigong magbigay nito.
Sa ilalim ng Presidential Decree 581, ang mga manggagawa sa pribadong sektor ay kailangang makatanggap ng 13th month pay katumbas ng isang buwang sahod na hindi lalampas sa December 24.
Maaari namang hati ang pagbibibigay nito sa loob ng isang taon basta ang natitirang kalahati ay maibibigay bago ang December 24.
