6 na Pinay na patungo sanang Lebanon, naharang sa Iloilo airport

Naharang ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang anim na hinihinalang biktima ng human trafficking sa Iloilo City.

Sa isinumiteng ulat kay BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, sinabi ni BI travel control and enforcement unit (TCEU) overall supervisor Ma. Timotea Barizo na naharang ang mga Filipina sa departure area ng Iloilo International Airport (IIA) noong December 1.

Pasakay na sana ang mga biktima sa Cebu Pacific flight patungong Hongkong at saka tutulak sa Beirut, Lebanon kung saan ilegal silang na-recruit para magtrabaho bilang domestic helpers.

“Upon arriving in Hongkong they were supposed to board their connecting flight to Beirut and end up working there as household service workers (HSWs) without the appropriate overseas work permits,” ani Barizo.

Isa aniyang concerned citizen ang tumawag sa IACAT (Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking) 1343 actionline para ipaalam ang impormasyon ukol trafficking attempt.

Ayon naman kay BI-IIA head supervisor Ma. Lourdes Mariano, inamin ng anim na bibiyahe sana sila patungong Lebanon para magtrabaho nang walang balidong dokumento.

Isa anilang “Alfred” ang nagproseso ng kanilang travel documents at work visas na iaabot sana sa kanila pagdating ng Beirut.

Dinala naman ang anim sa IACAT Sa Region 6 para sa tulong at karagdagang imbestigasyon.

Kasabay nito, umapela si Morente sa publiko na i-report ang mga posibleng kaso ng human trafficking.
