Lorenzana pormal nang inirekomenda ang hindi pagpapalawig sa martial law sa Mindanao
Pormal nang inirekomenda ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na huwag nang palawigin pa ang batas militar sa Mindanao.
Isinailalim ni Duterte sa martial law ang buong Mindanao May 2017 dahil sa pag-atake ng ISIS-inspired Maute terror group.
Nakatakda nang matapos ang martial law sa rehiyon sa December 31, 2019 na tatlong beses nang pinalawig ng Kongreso simula 2017.
Sa forum sa Manila Overseas Press Club sa Makati, sinabi ni Lorenzana na nagsumite na siya ng rekomendasyon sa pangulo para hindi na palawigin ang martial law, kahapon, araw ng Miyerkules.
“I just sent my recommendation today to the President recommending the non-extension of martial law in Mindanao,” ani Lorenzana.
Ayon kay Lorenzana, sa sitwasyon ngayon sa Mindanao ay mas madali nang maipagpapatuloy ang peace and order.
Nagawa na rin anya ang dapat gawin ng militar at pulisya sa pagpapatupadng martial law.
“With the situation there now, I think we can maintain the peace and order and improve it further, make it more peaceful without martial law…Personally I believe we have achieved our objective,” ayon sa kalihim.
Iginiit pa ng kalihim na nagtatagumpay din ang gobyerno ngayon laban sa iba pang bandidong grupo sa Mindanao tulad ng Abu Sayyaf Group.
“The only remaining substantial group is in Jolo province but that also we are succeeding. Last week, there was this encounter that killed five of them and we were able to recover the British couple,” giit ni Lorenzana.
Sa ngayon anya ay patuloy ang operasyon ng militar para mailigtas ang tatlong Indonesian na bihag ng ASG.
