Paglalagay sa provincial at sub provincial jails sa pangangasiwa ng BJMP pinaburan ng CHR

Malaki ang tiwala ng Commission on Human Rights (CHR) na magkakaroon ng malinaw na pamantayan ng mga polisiya sakaling ilipat sa ilalim ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) ang provincial at sub provincial jails.

Ito ang naging reaksyon ng CHR sa inihaing Senate Bill No. 1100 ni Senador Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, na may layong ilipat sa control at supervision ng BJMP ang mga provincial at sub provincial jails mula sa provincial governments.

Dahil dito naniniwala si Atty Jacqueline de Guia, tagapagsalita ng CHR, mas mabibigyan ng pansin ang kaligtasan at tamang pagtrato sa inmates kapag nasa na BJMP ang pangangasiwa ng mga pasilidad.

Sa ngayon nasa 13 mula sa 74 na provincial jails ang nasa ilalim na ng pangangasiwa ng BJMP.

Ito ay sa bisa ng kasunduan sa pagitan BJMP at ng mga LGU at provincial government.
