Duterte sa utos na suspendihin ang rice importation: “I have always been misunderstood”
Kumambyo si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa utos na suspendihin ang rice importation ng Pilipinas.
Sa isang panayam noong Biyernes (Nov.15) at sa press conference sa Malacañang Martes ng gabi (Nov. 19), sinabi ng pangulo na ipag-uutos niya ang pagpapatigil sa pag-angkat ng bigas sa panahon ng ani.
Sa talumpati naman sa inagurasyon ng isang power plant sa Sarangani, Biyernes ng hapon (Nov.22), iginiit ni Duterte na mali ang pagkakaunawa sa kanyang kautusan.
Ayon sa pangulo, ‘folly’ o kahangalan na ihinto ang rice importartion.
Delikado anya na ipatigil ang pag-angkat ng bigas gayong natural na nananalasa ang mga bagyo sa Pilipinas at sumisira sa lupang pansakahan.
“They can plant and harvest but it is always a contingent one in the Philippines. Now to say that you stop importation just because they’re going to produce the – projected number, that would be a folly because I said we are the window to the Pacific island,” ani Duterte.
“And you know there’s never a way of knowing how much typhoon would ravage our plant including the rice land and whether there would be a good harvest or not. So delikado ‘yan sabihin mo na — well I have been greatly misunderstood,” dagdag nito.
Lagi na lamang anyang mali ang pagkaunawa sa kanyang sinasabi.
Kilangang umanong mag-angkat dahil hindi kayang tugunan ng lokal na magsasaka ang kailangang bigas ng bansa.
“Sabagay, I have always been misunderstood. My presidency was a misunderstood venture. Ganun talaga. At ang sinabi ko, we have to import because the producer cannot fill up the requirements, it’s lacking,” giit ng pangulo.

Nadulot ang batas ng pagbaba ng presyo ng palay na inarayan ng mga magsasaka.
Nitong Huwebes, nakipagpulong si Agriculture Sec. William Dar sa pangulo para ipaliwanag na kailangang ituloy ang rice importation ngunit ipatutupad ang mas mahigpit na mga alituntunin.
