Pagbuo ng DDR, aprubado na sa komite sa Kamara

Lusot na sa House Committee on Reorganization ang panukalang upang lumikha ng Department of Disaster Resilience o DDR.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, magkakaroon ng joint supervision ang DDR sa Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Service Administration (PAGASA), Geo-Hazard Assessment and Engineering Geology Section ng Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), at Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Kapag naitatag, magkakaroon ito ng sariling secretary, undersecretaries, assistant secretaries at directors.

Maglalaan ang Kongreso ng paunang pondo na P10 bilyon.

Inoobliga rin ang DDR at ang mga nabanggit na departamento na bumuo ng mga sistema at protocol upang maging tuluy-tuloy ang palitan ng mga kaalaman, data, information technology, mga pasilidad at iba pang resources sa lahat ng pagkakataon.

Ang Office of Civil Defense (OCD) ang magsisilbing core organization ng DDR at hahawakan na rin nito ang trabaho ng Climate Change Commission Office, Health Emergency Management Bureau ng Department of Health (DOH), Disaster Response Assistance at Disaster Response Management Bureau ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Ang DDR ay naglalayong magsilbing pangunahing ahensya ng pamahalaan na tututok at may pananagutan sa usapin ng pag-iwas sa mga sakuna, mabilis na pagtugon sa panahon ng kalamidad o trahedya at sa rehabilitasyon o recovery efforts.
