‘Product of the mind’: Duterte dinepensahan ang P50M SEAG ‘cauldron’

Nanindigan si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa presyo ng kontrobersyal na ‘cauldron’ na gagamitin sa Southeast Asian Games (SEAG).

Sa press conference sa Malacañang, Martes ng gabi, pinabulaanan ng pangulo na may korapsyong naganap dahil kinomisyon ito ng gobyerno kay National Artist for Architecture Francisco ‘Bobby’ Mañosa.

“You know, there can never be corruption in that situation because you commission a national artist Mañosa,” ani Duterte.

Una nang kwinestyon ni Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon ang presyo ng ‘cauldron’ na umabot sa P50 milyon at tinawag itong “unnecessary extravagance.”

Pero ayon sa pangulo, produkto ang kaldero ng utak at walang magagawa ang gobyerno kung ganito ang nais na singil ng artist.

“It is the product of a mind. You cannot estimate how much nalugi ka because this is the rendition of the mind of the creator. Kung ‘yan ang singil niya, eh di sabihin niya, huwag huwag mong bilhin kung ayaw mo. ‘yan ang presyo ko,” paliwanag ng pangulo.

Wala anyang extravagance sa kaldero ng SEA Games.

““You cannot debate with a painter. You create a symbolism of the athletic activity. That is the mind of… Walang extravagance diyan,” ani Dutetre.

Binalikan naman ng presidente si Drilon at kwinestyon ang anya’y ginastos nitong milyun-milyong pera para sa Iloilo International Convention Center.

Ayon sa pangulo, ang pera ay maaari rin sanang ginamit sa ilang kilometrong imprastraktura.

Una nang sinabi ni Drilon na ang perang ginamit sa ‘cauldron’ ay maaari nang magamit sa pagpapatayo ng 50 silid-aralan.
