Napili ang 8-division world champion na si Senator Manny Pacquiao para maging torchbearer sa opening ceremony ng 30th Southeast Asian Games sa November 30 na gaganapin sa Philippine Arena.
Si Pacquiao ang magsisindi ng SEA Games cauldron na magiging hudyat ng pagbubukas ng biennial games.
Ayon kay Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) spokesperson Jarie Osias magkakaroon ng ceremonial lighting ng SEA Games cauldron na matatagpuan sa New Clark City sa Tarlac.
Hindi ito ang unang pagkakataon na pamumunuan ng Pinoy boxing champion ang Philippine delegation.
Si Pacquiao ay naging flagbearer ng Philippine Team noong 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Ang unang napili na maging torchbearer ay ang gymnastics champion na si Carlos Yulo pero hindi ito makadadalo dahil sa gymnastics competition na conflict sa araw ng opening ceremony.
