Itinuturing na pride ng Mindanao si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte bilang kauna-unahang lider ng bansa na nagmula sa rehiyon.

Pero bukod sa tubong Mindanao, sinabi ng National Commission on Muslim Mindanao na may dugong Maranao at may royal blood ang pangulo.
