5 biktima ng human trafficking, nailigtas sa Mactan

Nailigtas ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang limang biktima ng human trafficking sa Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

Sa inilabas na pahayag, sinabi ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente na naharang ang lima na patungo sanang Hong Kong at Macau noong October 27 at 30.

Naaresto aniya ang isang babaeng courier na sinasabing responsable sa pag-recruit sa mga undocumented overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Ani Morente, itinuro ng tatlo sa limang biktima ang babaeng courier na sumama at nagbigay ng briefing bago ang kanilang flight.

Ayon naman kay Ma. Asuncion Palma-Gil, pinuno ng BI MCIA Travel Control and Enforcement Unit (TCEU), dinala na ang hindi pinangalanang suspek sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Nakapagsampa na aniya ng criminal complaint dahil sa human trafficking at illegal recruitment sa Cebu City prosecutor’s office.

Dagdag pa ni Palma-Gil, posibleng iisa lang ang sindikato sa trafficking scheme sa naunang naharang na 17 biktima nito.

Muli namang inalerto ni Morente ang mga tauhan ng BI sa mga pantalan sa labas ng Metro Manila.
