Expansion program para malinis na tubig sa Dumaguete City kasado na
Lumagda sa isang Joint Venture Agreement ang Metro Pacific Water (MPW) at Dumaguete City Water District (DCWD) para sa pagbuo ng Metro Pacific Dumaguete Water Services, Inc. (MDW).
Ang nabuong joint venture company ang siyang mangunguna sa rehabilitation, upgrading, at expansion ng kasalukuyang water distribution sa kabuuan ng Dumaguete City at mga kalapit na lugar.
Ipinangako ng MDW ang 24/7 service para sa malinis na tubig sa kanilang mga nasasakupan.
Opisyal na magsisimula ang MDW operation sa Enero ng taong 2020.
“Our new joint venture company is set to implement projects that will not only bring more comfort to the over 130,000 residents of Dumaguete, but also help to promote economic development in the area.” Ayon kay Mr. Ramoncito Fernandez, Director ng MPW at Maynilad President.
Sa kasalukuyan ay binibigyan ng suplay ng malinis na tubig ng DCWD ang 30 barangays ng Dumaguete City.
Kasama sa rin sa kanilang area of operations ang mga bayan ng Bacong, Sibulan, at Valencia sa lalawigan ng Negros Oriental.
Nakapaloob sa nilagdaang kasunduan sa Joint Venture Agreement ang P2.3 Billion investment ng MDW.
Gagamitin ang nasabing pondo para pataasin ang ang water production ng MWD hanggang sa 57 million of liter per day (MLD).
Nakapaloob rin sa plano ang pagsasa-ayos sa linya ng tubig sa lugar dahil sa patuloy na pagtaas ng populasyon sa Dumaguete City.
Kinakailangan ang nasabing plano dahil sa ikinakasang development sa lugar kabilang na ang pagtatayo ng international airport, dagdag na seaport at ecozone sa bayan ng Bacong.
