Konstruksyon ng NLEX-SLEX connector umarangkada na
Ininspeksyon ni Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar ang konstruksyon ng NLEX-SLEX connector na itatayo sa ibabaw ng rail tracks ng Philippine National Railways (PNR).
Sa contract award and project walk through na isinagawa araw ng Martes, ininspeksyon ni Villar ang construction site kasama ang mga opisyal ng NLEX Corporation at kumpanyang D.M. Consunji Inc. (DMCI).
Target ng DPWH na matapos sa 2021 ang mahigit 8 kilometrong all-elevated expressway na magkokonekta sa NLEX at SLEX.
Ang NLEX connector road ay bagong expressway sa ibabaw ng lumang rail system na PNR na mula Caloocan City hanggang Sta. Mesa sa Maynila.
Ang dating 2 oras na biyahe ay magiging 20 minuto na lamang umano kapag natapos ang NLEX-SLEX connector.
“Upon full completion in 2021, the NLEX Connector will significantly cut travel time from NLEX to SLEX by at least 60 percent. Instead of the usual 2 hours, travel time will now be reduced to about 20 minutes. It will also provide improved accessibility for cargo trucks bound for the Manila Ports (North and South Harbor) and the international airports such as NAIA and Clark,” pahayag ng kalihim.
Ayon pa kay Villar, isa ito sa mga solusyon ng gobyerno sa matinding trapik dahil tinatayang nasa 35,000 na mga sasakyan kada araw ang maaaring mabawas sa mga kalsada.
Itatayo ang elevated highway sa ibabaw ng PNR para iwas problema na sa “right of way.”
Ang NLEX-SLEX connector ay isa sa mga unang Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects na pakikinabangan lalo na ng mga cargo trucks na bumibyahe sa hilaga at timog na bahagi ng Metro Manila.
