Karne ng baboy mula China sanhi ng ASF outbreak sa Pilipinas

Ang mga smuggled na karne ng baboy mula sa China ang itinuturo ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na sanhi ng pagkalat ng African Swine Fever (ASF) sa bansa.

Sa press briefing araw ng Lunes, sinabi ni Agriculture Sec. William Dar na ang illegal shipment ng karneng baboy na nakumpiska sa Port of Manila noong Oktubre ay malinaw na indikasyon na galing sa China ang virus.

“The smuggled items coming from China ay lumabas naman na pork at pork products at tinesting natin ‘yon, may ASF. So, that concludes, that really, this have been introduced by bringing it here,’ ani Dar.

Dalawang magkahiwalay na shipment ng smuggled pork at pork products na idineklarang tomato paste at vermicelli ang nakumpiska noong huling linggo ng Oktubre.

Nagpositibo ang naturang mga karne sa ASF.

Ayon kay Dar, posibleng ang mga produktong kontaminado ng ASF ay nadala sa Rodriguez, Rizal at ipinakain naman ng local hog raisers sa kanilang mga baboy.

Una nang sinabi ng gobyerno na ang canned at processed meat mula sa mga umuwing overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) at hotel food waste ang sanhi ng outbreak.

Wala namang binanggit noon ang mga opisyal kung saang bansa galing ang pork products.
