Duterte nanawagang magtulungan ang ASEAN at UN para sa pag-unlad ng SEA region
Nanawagan si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at United Nations (UN) na magtulungan para sa tuluyang pag-unlad ng Southeast Asian region.
Sa kanyang intervention sa 10th ASEAN-UN Summit sa Thailand, sinabi ng presidente na dapat magtulungan ang dalawang partido para mapagaan ang buhay ng mahihirap at maabot ang inaasam na ‘inclusive growth’.
“Indeed, the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are mutually reinforcing. We should enhance synergies in our efforts to reduce poverty, narrow inequalities, and promote inclusive growth,” ani Duterte.
Idiniga ng presidente ang pagpapalakas sa kakayahan ng ASEAN at UN sa usapin ng pagsulong sa papel ng kababaihan sa conflict prevention, peace-building at post-conflict rehabilitation.
Ayon sa pangulo, nangunguna ang Pilipinas sa nasabing usapin at maaari itong magbahagi ng ‘best practices’ matapos maitatag ang ASEAN Women’s Peace Registry (AWPR).
Kinilala ni UN Secretary General Antonio Gutteres ang pagkakatatag ng (AWPR) na binanggit ni Duterte.
Ayon pa sa pangulo, kailangan ding magtulungan ng ASEAN at UN para tugunan ang climate change na isang problemang pang-buong mundo at isa ang Pilipinas sa nabibiktima nito.
Gayundin ay sinabi ni Duterte na hawak-kamay din dapat na resolbahin ng ASEAN at UN ang problema sa terorismo na maaaring matugunan sa pagtaguyod sa interreligious and intercultural dialogue na pinangunahan na ng Pilipinas.
Sa huli, sinabi rin ng presidente na maaari ring magtulungan ang UN at ASEAN sa maritime security.
Ayon kay Duterte, maaaring ibahagi ng UN sa ASEAn ang kaalaman nito sa paggiit sa rule of law kabilang ang implementasyon ng United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
