Trump hindi sisiputin ang 35th Asean Summit sa Thailand

Inaasahang pag-uusapan ng mga Asian leaders sa 35th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit ang gusot sa South China Sea.

Kasalukuyang ginaganap sa Thailand ang nasabing pulong ng mga lider sa Asia-pacific region.

Hindi makakadalo sa pulong si US President Donald Trump at ang magiging kinatawan niya ay si Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross at White House national security adviser Robert O’Brien.

Ang China naman ay kakatawanin ng kanilang premier na si Li Keqiang.

Nauna nang sinabi ng Thailand na tila hindi interesado sa pagdalo sa Asean Summit ang ilang American leaders lalo’t inaasahan ang pagbandila ng China ng kanilang trade agreements sa ilang bansa sa Asya.

“The US is signalling that the ASEAN Summit and related meetings are not as important as other countries are considering them to be. This signals that the US is a lesser player in our area.” ayon kay Kantathi Suphamongkhon, na siyang dating Thai foreign minister.

Inaasahan namang ibabandila ng China ang kanilang Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) katuwang ang ilang bansa mula sa Asya.
