US House of Representatives bumoto para isapormal ang impeachment process vs Trump

Bumoto ang US House of Representatives araw ng Huwebes pabor sa pagsisimula ng impeachment process laban kay President Donald Trump.

Sa botong 232-196, nanaig ang suporta para sa impeachment sa Democratic-controlled House.

Si House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ang nanguna sa botohan.

Inaakusahan si Trump na sinusubukang i-pressure ang Ukraine sa pag-imbestiga sa umano’y pagkakasangkot sa korapsyon ni Joe Biden at anak nito na nagtrabaho sa isang Ukranian gas company na Burisma.

Si Biden ay kalaban ni Trump sa eleksyon.

Mariin namang itinanggi ni Trump ang mga akusasyon.

Naitakda ang bagong ‘public phase’ ng impeachment process at posible na mapanood ang hearings sa telebisyon.

“This resolution sets the stage for the next phase of our investigation, one in which the American people have the opportunity to hear from the witnesses first-hand,” ayon kay House intelligence chairman Adam Schiff.

Sakaling bumoto ang House sa pagpasa ng articles of impeachment, isasagawa ang impeachment trials sa Senado.

Ito lamang ang ikatlong pagkakataon sa kasaysayan ng US modern presidency na bumoto ang kapulungan pabor sa pagsasapormal ng impeachment laban sa presidente.
