Democratic front-runner Joe Biden pinigilan ng isang pari na makapag-komunyon sa South Carolina Catholic Church.
Hindi pinayagan na makapag-komunyon ng isang pari sa South Carolina Catholic church ang Democratic front-runner na si Joe Biden nitong nagdaang weekend.
Batay sa ulat ng local newspaper sa South Carolina na Morning news, hindi pinatanggap ng Holy Communion ni Reverend Robert E. Morey si Biden, sa kabila ng pagiging katoliko.
“Sadly, this past Sunday, I had to refuse Holy Communion to former Vice President Joe Biden,” sabi ni Morey sa kanyang statement.
“Holy Communion signifies we are one with God, each other and the Church. Our actions should reflect that. Any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of Church teaching.”
“I will keep Mr. Biden in my prayers,” saad pa ni Morey.
Hindi naman nagpaunlak ng pahayag ang kampo ni Biden sa hiling na siya ay mag-komento sa pangyayari.
Ang posisyon ni Biden sa aborsyon ay ilang dekada na ring ipinupukol laban sa kanya ng konserbatibong hanay ng Democratic party-pero nito lamang nagdaang mga buwan ay inanunsiyo niya ang kanyang pagtutol sa Hyde Amendment, na pumipigil sa federal funding para sa aborsyon.
Sabi ni Biden, tinutulan niya ang Hyde Amendment nitong nagdaang buwan ng hunyo matapos magkaroon ng Democratic backlash nang sabihin niyang hindi niya sinusuportahan ang naturang pag-amyenda.
