P3.5M halaga ng smuggled pork at meat products nasabat ng BOC

Nakumpiska ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa Port of Manila ang aabot sa P3.5 milyong halaga ng smuggled pork at iba pang meat products.

Sa pahayag araw ng Lunes, sinabi ng BOC na dumating ang dalawang containers na naglalaman ng nasabing meat products sa South Harbor noong October 12.

Ang shipment ay galing ng China kung saan talamak din ang African Swine Fever (ASF).

Idineklara ng consignee na tomato paste at vermicelli ang shipment at nagkakahalaga lamang ng P288,576 kasama ang buwis.

Gayunman, sa isinagawang physical examination, nadiskubre ng Customs examiner ang mga karne.

Ang pagkakakumpiska sa pork at meat products ay sa gitna ng pinaigting na operasyon para pigilan ang pagkalat ng ASF.

Inilabas ang Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) laban sa consignee ng shipment dahil sa paglabag sa Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
