Deposition ni Mary Jane Veloso pansamantalang itinakda sa Disyembre
Itinakda sa December 12 ng trial court sa Nueva Ecija ang deposition o pagbibigay ni Mary Jane Veloso ng testimonya laban sa kanyang illegal recruiters.
“Philippine trial court tentatively set on Dec. 12, 2019 the taking of Mary Jane’s testimony as the last prosecution witness by way of deposition through written interrogatories in Indonesia,” ayon kay National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers president Edre Olalia.
Una nang pinayagan ng Korte Suprema na tumestigo si Veloso para sa kanyang human trafficking case laban kina Cristina Sergio at Julius Lacanilao na kanyang mga kapit-bahay sa Talavera, Nueva Ecija.
Ang dalawa ang sinasabi ni Veloso na nanggoyo sa kanya at nasa likod ng kanyang pagpupuslit ng heroin patungong Indonesia noong 2009.
Sa pamamagitan ng deposition, makapagbibigay ng testimonya mula sa selda si Veloso at makapagpapadala rin ng tanong ang mga abugado ng nina Sergio at Lacanilao.
Sinabi naman ng NUPL na ang petsang December 12 para sa deposition ay posibleng mabago pa depende sa magiging desisyon ng Korte Suprema hinggil sa motion for reconsideration ng dalawang recruiter.
Bukod dito, mayroon ding nakabinbing ‘motion to defer action’ sa RTC ang mga abugado nina Sergio at Lacanilao hinggil sa pagpayag sa deposition ni Veloso.
“This is subject to the resolution of the intended Motion for Reconsideration of the Philippine Supreme Court Decision allowing her to do so to be filed by her accused recruiters through the Public Attorney’s Office; the resolution of the PAO’s pending Motion to Defer Action before the trial court; as well as the result of bilateral arrangements and preparations to implement it between the Philippines and Indonesian authorities,” dagdag ni Olalia.
Samantala, sinabi rin ng NUPL na ‘submitted for resolution’ na ang isa pang kasong illegal recruitment na inihain ng tatlong ibang Pinay laban kina Sergio at Lacanilao.
Ang promulgasyon para sa desisyon sa kaso ay itinakda sa January 30, 2020.
