Grupo ng mga abogado naghahanda ng mga kaso laban kay Duterte
Ilan taon bago bumaba sa kanyang pwesto sa taong 2022, ngayon pa lamang ay abala na National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL) sa paghahanda ng mga kaso laban kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Sa 2022 ay mawawala na ang immunity from suit ni Duterte kasabay ng pagbaba niya sa pwesto.
Sinabi ni NUPL president Edre Olalia na ang kanilang mga inihahandang kaso ay hindi bilang paghihiganti sa pangulo kundi pagbibigay ng hustisya para sa mga umano’y biktima ng human rights abuses.
Bukod sa pangulo, sabit rin sa mga kasong inihahanda partikular na sa mga insidente ng extrajudicial killing sina National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperson Jr., Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana at Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, pati na ang mga dati at kasalukuyang opisyal ng Philippine National Police at Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Bilang tugon, sinabi ni presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo na tanggap ng pangulo ang mga kaso na pwedeng isampa laban sa kanya.
“It’s a free country. Everyone is entitled to file any case against whom so they think that has violated the law. And let the courts decide the validity of such complaints,” dagdag pa ni Panelo.
