UNAIDS: Pilipinas numero unong bansa sa mabilis na pagdami ng HIV
Pilipinas na ang bansang may fastest growing HIV epidemic hindi lang sa Asia Pacific kundi sa buong mundo ayon sa UNAIDS Philippines.
Sa isang programa na ginanap sa Manila Doctors Hospital araw ng Lunes, sinabi ni UNAIDS Philippines country director Dr. Louie Ocampo na numero uno na ang bansa sa mabilis na pagdami ng HIV noong 2018.
Ayon kay Ocampo, nakapagtala ng panibagong 13,384 HIV cases sa katapusan ng 2018 na 203 percent na mas mataas sa naitalang 4,419 cases noong 2010.
“We are the country with the fastest growing HIV epidemic in the world, not only in the Asia and the Pacific. In 2018 report, we’re now number 1 in the whole world,” ani Ocampo.
Fastest growing sa kaso ng HIV ang Pilipinas ayon kay Ocampo ngunit nananatiling mababa sa absolute number kumpara sa African countries.
“[We are the] fastest growing in terms of growth rate comparing 2010 and 2018. But in terms of absolute number, we are still very low, African countries,” dagdag ng doktor.
Sa pagtaya ng UNAIDS, nasa 77,000 na ang people living with HIV (PLHIV) sa bansa kung saan 62,029 lamang ang diagnosed at naiulat.
Ayon kay Ocampo, nahuhuli ang bansa sa pag-diagnose sa PLHIV.
“We’re lagging behind in terms of diagnosing [PLHIV], so we’re still missing around 15,000 people who are not [yet] detected or who are not [yet] diagnosed,” dagdag ng doktor.
Sa ulat ng Department of Health (DOH) pinakamarami ang kaso ng HIV sa National Capital Region (NCR) na hawak ang 39 percent ng kabuuang populasyon ng PLHIV, sinundan ng CALABARZON, 15 percent at Central Visayas, 7 percent.
