Nakalatag na ang bilateral meeting nina Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at Indian President Ram Nath Kovind na gaganapin bukas (Oct. 18) sa Malakanyang.

Huwebes (Oct. 17) ng hapon inaasahan ang pagdating ng Indian president para sa limang araw na state visit.

Inaasahang tatalakayin ng dalawang lider ang mutual interest ng Pilipinas at India kabilang na ang political, economic, cultural at people to people engagement.

Susundan ito ng exchange of agreements habang mag-iisyu din ng joint statement ang dalawang lider.

Si Kovind ang ikatlong presidente ng India na magkakaroon ng state visit sa Pilipinas kaalinsabay na rin sa paggunita sa 70th year relations ng dalawang bansa.

Tinatayang nasa 120,000 Indian nationals ang naririto sa Pilipinas at 5,000 dito ay nakakuha na ng Filipino citizenship habang 12,000 namang Indian students ang naka- enroll sa iba’t ibang unibersidad na ang karamihan ay nasa medical courses and flight training.
