PET hinimok na pagtibayin ang rules sa pagresolba sa VP electoral protest
Hinimok ng kampo ni Vice President Leni Robredo ang Korte Suprema na umuupo bilang Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) na sundin at pagtibayin ang mga sarili nitong panuntunan sa pagresolba sa electoral protest na inihain ni dating Sen. Bongbong Marcos.
Ngayong araw ng Martes sasalang sa deliberasyon ng PET ang protesta ni Marcos.
Pagbobotohan na ang report ni Associate Justice Benjamin Caguioa ukol sa isinagawang ballot revision at recount sa tatlong pilot provinces na pinili ni Marcos – ang Iloilo, Camarines Sur at Negros Oriental.
Sa 23-pahinang manifestation na inihain ng kampo ni Robredo, hinikayat ang PET na sundin ang 2010 rules partikular ang “Rule 65”.
Paliwanag ni Atty. Romulo Macalintal, sa ilalim ng “Rule 65” kapag bigo ang kampo ni Marcos, na patunayan ang dayaan sa pinili nitong pilot provinces ay dapat awtomatikong maibasura ang electoral protest.
Sakali namang may ‘substantial recovery’ ng boto ay itutuloy ng PET ang bilangan sa 27 pang probinsya at lungsod na tinukoy.
Iginiit ni Macalintal na ang hindi pagsunod sa Rule 65 ng PET ay paglabag sa karapatan ni Robredo sa ‘due process’ at ‘equal protection of the law’.
