Indian President Ram Nath Kovind bibisita sa Pilipinas

Nakatakdang bumisita sa bansa si Indian President Ram Nath Kovind mula October 17 hanggang 21.

Sa pahayag ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) araw ng Biyernes, ang pagbisita ng Indian president ay bunsod ng imbitasyon ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Ito ay dahil gugunitain ng Pilipinas at India ang ika-70 anibersaryo ng pagkakatatag ng diplomatic relations nito.

Ayon sa DFA, nakatakdang magkaroon ng bilateral meeting sina Duterte at Kovind sa October 18 para pag-usapan ang ilang ‘areas of mutual interest’ kabilang ang “political, economic, cultural and people-to-people engagement.”

Inaasahan ding haharap ang Indian president sa Indian community sa bansa.

Bibisita rin ito sa Filipino beneficiaries ng Mahaveer Philippine Foundation, Inc., isang Manila-based non-government organization na nagbibigay ng libreng prosthetic limbs na gawa mula sa India para sa mga Filipino amputees.

Si Kovind ang ikatlong Indian president na bibisita sa Pilipinas mula 1949.
