Pag-aaral ng libu-libong estudyante nalagay sa alanganin dahil sa budget cut ng CHED
Nababahala si Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto na tumigil sa pag-aaral ang higit P700,000 estudyante dahil sa binabalak na pagtapyas sa 2020 budget ng Commission on Higher Education o CHED.
Nabatid na P11.6 bilyon ang planong ibawas sa pondo ng ahensiya.
Diin ni Recto hindi naman makatuwiran para sa mga estudyante ang mangyayaring ‘tuition subsidy holiday.’
Ngayong taon ang budget ng CHED ay P52.43 bilyon at sa 2020 National Expenditure Program ito ay bumaba sa P40.78 billion o kabawasan ng halos 23 porsiyento.
Banggit ni Recto halos 80 porsiyento ng pondo ng CHED ay nakalaan sa pagpapatupad ng Free College Tuition Law.
Sa naturang halaga, P25.28 bilyon ay para sa higit 708,993 beneficiaries ng Tertiary Education Subsidy.
Sinabi pa ng senador, bukod dito nabawasan din ng P2.6 bilyon ang Tulong Dunong Program ng CHED sa susunod na taon.
Umapila na ang CHED na ibalik ang nabawas sa kanilang pondo.
