15 senador tutol sa Sogie bill ayon kay Sotto

Ibinunyag ni Senate President Tito Sotto na 15 sa 24 senador ang tutol sa Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (Sogie) Equality bill.

Sa press conference sa Senado araw ng Lunes, kumpyansang sinabi ni Sotto na hindi papasa sa Senado ang naturang panukalang batas.

“A great majority, not only 13,” he said, “At least 15 and counting.

Ayon sa senador, mayroon ng mga batas na nagpo-protekta hindi lamang sa iisang sektor ng lipunan kundi ng bawat Pilipino.

“We can safely say, and we have studied this proposition already, there’s no need for it. It’s a redundancy…There are enough laws that cover that particular issue that they are talking about,” dagdag ng senador,” ani Sotto.

Kasama ni Sotto ang mag-amang sina Senator Joel Villanueva at House Deputy Speaker Eddie Villanueva.

Bagamat tutol sa Sogie bill, sinabi ng nakakatandang Villanueva na hindi sila galit sa mga miyembro ng LGBTQ+ community.
