Laguna ‘insurgency-free’ na ayon sa AFP

Idineklara ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang lalawigan ng Laguna bilang “insurgency-free” o wala nang presensya ng komunistang New People’s Army (NPA).

Ayon kay Capt. Jayrald Ternio, hepe ng public affairs office ng 2nd Infantry Division ng Philippine Army, ang Laguna ang ikalawang lalawigan sa Calabarzon na naideklarang “area with Stable Internal Peace and Security” (SIPS).

Sinabi ni Ternio na sa nakalipas na mahigit isang taon ay walang naitalang krimen sangkot ang NPA sa Laguna.

Maliban sa Laguna, ang lalawigan ng Cavite ay nauna nang naideklarang SIPS ng AFP noong Dec. 4, 2018.

Sa MIMAROPA naman, kapwa deklarado na ring insurgency free ang Romblon at Marinduque.

Ang deklarasyon ay ginawa sa pamamagitan ng Memorandum of Agreement na nilagdaan nina Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez at Brig. General Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr., commander ng 2nd ID sa idinaos na provincial peace and order council meeting.
