5 matatandang puno sa Cebu City pinutol para sa DPWH project
Umani ng batikos ang pagputol ng mga century-old trees sa Cebu City.
Pinutol ang limang puno na nasa isang siglo na ang tanda para bigyang-daan ang proyekto ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Binigyan ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) ng special permits ang DPWH-7 para putulin ang apat na puno ng narra at isang puno ng mahogany sa M. Velez Street sa Barangay Capitol Site.
Ang authority para maglabas ng mga permit para sa pagputol ng mga puno ay galing kay Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu.
Ayon kay DENR-7 director Paquito Melicor Jr., ito ay para mapabilis ang mga proyektong imprastraktura ng DPWH.
Ang matatandang puno anya ang isa sa mga dahilan ng mabagal na implementasyon ng Build, Build, Build program.
Dagdag ng opisyal, magtatanim ng 500 binhi ng puno kapalit ng pinutol na century-old trees.
