Demolisyon sa gumuhong gusali sa Malate, Maynila ipinahinto ng DOLE
Ipinag-utos ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang pagpapahinto ng demolisyon sa gumuhong abandonadong gusali sa isang hotel sa Malate, Maynila.
Ayon kay Labor Assistant Secretary Benjo Santos Benavidez, inilibas ang work stoppage order (WSO) sa Golden Breeze Realty Inc. (Hotel Sogo Mabini), Fabellon Construction & Development Corporation, at ilang sangkot na sub-contractors sa gusali sa bahagi ng Mabini Street.
Posible kasi aniyang magdulot ito ng panganib sa mga trabahador.
Ani Benavidez, lumabas sa kanilang imbestigasyon na walang trained safety officer at walang certified first aider sa lugar.
Isa aniya itong requirement sa pagsisimula at pagtatapos ng demolisyon.
Nagkaroon din aniya ng paglabag sa occupational safety and health standards kabilang ang kakulangan ng employers expired Construction and Health and OSH programs, kawalan ng trained safety officer, first aider at safety and health committee, at employers work accident o illness exposure data report.
Ipinatawag naman ni DOLE National Capital Region Director Sarah Buena Mirasol ang may-ari ng gusali at contractor para sa mandatory conference sa DOLE Manila field office bukas, araw ng Huwebes (September 26).
Matatandaang dalawang construction worker ang nasawi matapos matabunan ng semento makaraang gumuho ang parte ng gusali sa lugar noong Lunes, September 23.
