Duterte pinasalamatan si Madrigal dahil sa mga ipinatupad na reporma sa militar
Nagpahayag ng kanyang pasasalamat si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kay dating Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff, Gen. Benjamin Madrigal Jr. dahil sa naging dedikasyon nito sa pamumuno sa hukbong sandatahan at sa pagtiyak sa seguridad ng bansa.
Sa talumpati na binasa ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana sa AFP change of command ceremony sa Camp Aguinaldo kahapon, sinabi ng pangulo na nag-iwan ng marka si Madrigal sa pagpapatupad ng mga reporma para palakasin ang militar.
“General Madrigal, I congratulate you for completing your remarkable tour of duty as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. You have made a mark in this noble institution by initiating and pursuing organizational reforms to strengthen its operational effectiveness,” ani Duterte.
Pinasalamatan ni Duterte si Madrigal dahil sa pagtitiyak na magagampanan ng AFP ang papel nitong bantayan ang seguridad at pag-unlad sa bansa.
“We thank you for your steadfast leadership and for ensuring that the AFP remains to be a reliable player in our whole-of-nation approach to achieving security and development in the country,” dagdag ng pangulo.
Ilan sa mga reporma ni Madrigal ayon sa pangulo ay ang activation ng 4th Marine Brigade at ang pagpapaganda sa internal security operations.
Sa ilalim anya ng pamumuno ni Madrigal ay libu-libong terorista ang sumuko at nahuli dahilan para mas maging ligtas ang mga komunidad.
Binati rin ni Duterte si Madrigal sa mahusay na pagtugon ng militar sa humanitarian assistance and disaster response at sa pagpapalakas sa territorial defense partikular sa Kalayaan Group of Islands.
