POGO industry pinaiimbestigahan na sa Kamara

Pinaiimbestigahan na ng ilang lider ng Kamara ang industriya ng Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations o POGO.

Base sa House Resolution No. 337 na inihain nina Minority Leader, Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr., Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC) Rep. Eduardo “Bro. Eddie” Villanueva, Muntinlupa Rep. Rozzano Rufino Biazon, at Manila 1st District Rep. Manuel Luis Lopez, hinikayat ng mga ito ang Mababang Kapulungan na magsagawa ng inquiry sa sinasabing pagtaas ng mga iligal na manggagawang Chinese sa mga POGO.

Bukod pa ito ang hindi pagbabayad ng buwis, paglabag sa immigration rules and regulation at Labor Code.

Ayon kay Abante, long overdue na ang inquiry ng Kamara dahil sa mga isyu na kinakaharap ng POGO.

Nakaka alarma anya na hindi ma-account ng pamahalaan ang tamang bilang nga mga dayuhang POGO workers dahil kung hindi mabatid ang bilang ng mga ito ay mas mayroong isyu sa pangongolekta ng buwis sa mga ito.

Maliban dito, nakababahala din anya ang pagtatayo ng mga POGO hubs malapit sa mga kampo militar.

Sa datos ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) nasa 63,855 documented foreign nationals ang nagtatrabaho sa POGO industry pero may mag ulat na nasa 120,000 na ito ngayon.
