Pilipinas mahigpit na binabantayan ang Ebola outbreak sa Congo

Binabantayan ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas ang outbreak ng Ebola virus sa Democratic Republic of Congo upang hindi ito makarating sa bansa.

Ito ay matapos ideklara ng World Health Organization (WHO) na isang ‘Public Health Emergency of International Concern’ (PHEIC) ang Ebola outbreak.

Sa statement ng Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) sinabi nitong nakikipag-ugnayan sila sa Department of Health (DOH) at sa Bureau of Quarantine nito, Bureau of Immigration at Civil Aeronautics Board para sa contingency measures laban sa sakit,

Noong nakaraang buwan idineklara ang Ebola outbreak sa Congo matapos masawi ang 2,074 katao at 3,099 pa ang nagkaroon ng naturang sakit.

Ayon naman kay Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello, hindi pa magpapatupad ng deployment ban ang bansa sa Congo at hihintayin muna ang rekomendasyon ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Ayon sa datos ng POEA, kabuuang 794 at 660 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) ang nagtrabaho sa Congo noong 2016 at 2017.

Taong 2014 nang magpatupad ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas ng deployment ban sa Liberia, Guinea at Sierra Leone dahil sa Ebola outbreak.
