Mga convicts na napalaya dahil sa GCTA may 3 araw na lang para sumuko
Mayroon na lamang tatlong araw para sumuko ang mga convicts na napalaya dahil sa Good Conduct Time Allowance (CGTA) law kundi ay nahaharap sila sa warrantless arrest.
Nagpaalala si Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra sa 15 araw na deadline ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte para bumalik sa kulungan ang 1,915 na convicts para sa re-computation ng kanilang time allowances.
“After Sept. 19 and they (PDLs) refuse (to surrender), we have already taken this position since under the law and under the existing jurisprudence you have not completed the service of your sentence and it is your duty to serve it to the fullest,” ani Guevarra.
Ang paglabag anya sa deadline ng walang makatwirang dahilan ay matuturing na “evasion of sentence.”
Samantala, inutusan naman ni Interior Secretary Eduardo Año ang mga pulis at lokal na pamahalaan na paalalahanan ang mga convicts kaugnay ng ultimatum ng pangulo.
Sinabi nina Guevarra at Año na matapos ang deadline, aarestuhin na ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mga hindi sumuko.
Hinimok naman ni Guevarra na dumulog sa korte ang convict na ang argumento ay hindi nila kasalanan na sila ay napalaya base sa maling computation ng kanilang time allowance.
