Chinese envoy nangakong tutulong sa ‘grand program’ ng Maynila
Nangako ang China ng mas malalim na ugnayan sa lungsod ng Maynila.
Sa courtesy call ni Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua kay Manila Mayor Isko Moreno araw ng Huwebes, sinabi ng envoy na mas gumanda ang relasyon ng China at Pilipinas simula nang maupo si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pwesto.
Narinig din umano si Zhao ang magagandang komento ni Duterte para kay Moreno.
“I have noted that President Duterte gave you very good comments. I would like to reiterate that since Duterte became president of the Philippines, the China-Philippines relationship has been on a better track,” ani Zhao.
Dahil dito, sinabi ng Chinese envoy na ang relasyon ng Beijing at Maynila ay mas lalalim pa at tutulungan ang lungsod sa pagsasakatuparan sa “grand program” nito.
Nagsimula umano ang relasyon ng Maynila at Beijing bilang sister cities noong 1980s sa pamumuno ng noo’y Beijing mayor at ngayo’y Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan.
“Our relationship will be more vibrant, more vigor between Manila and China. We will further deepen our friendship that we will help you carry out your grand program,” dagdag ng envoy.
Sa naturang pagbisita, ibinigay din ng Public Welfare Charity Foundation ng Philippine Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry ang P20 milyon sa Manila City government
Ayon kay Moreno, gagamitin ang donasyon sa rehabilitasyon ng isang tulay malapit sa heritage site na nasa kahabaan ng Pasig River.
Hindi naman binanggit ni Moreno ang eksaktong lokasyon ng nasabing tulay.
Bukod sa proyekto ni Moreno, mayroon pang limang Chinese-funded bridges ang binubuo sa Pasig River para makatulong sa trapiko sa Metro Manila.
Isa sa mga ito ay ang tulay na magkokonekta sa Intramuros at Binondo na inaasahang matatapos sa Disyembre.
