September 3 idineklara bilang national special working holiday

Idineklara ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang araw ng martes, September 3 bilang National special working holiday.

Ito ay para i-marka ang pagsuko ng Japanese soldiers sa pangunguna ni Army General Tomoyuki Yamashita sa pagtatapos ng World War II.

Ang Republic Act No. 11216, ay nilagdaan ng Pangulo noong February 14 para gunitain ang pagsuko ng Japanese general at kanyang pwersa sa Baguio City noong 1945.

Ang naturang pag-surrender ay naging hudyat ng pagtatapos ng ikalawang digmaang pandaigdig sa Pasipiko.

Sa sumunod na taon ay pinatawan ng kamatayan si Yamashita sa pamamagitan ng pagbigti sa Los Baños, Laguna.
