Duterte at Xi nagkasundo sa pagbuo ng Code of Conduct sa South China Sea
Nagkasundo sina Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at Chinese President Xi Jinping sa pagbuo ng code of conduct sa South China Sea matapos hindi kilalanin ng China ang arbitral ruling na pumapabor sa Pilipinas.
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, sinegundahan ni Xi si Duterte na kailangan ang pagbuo ng Code of Conduct sa pinag-aagawang mga teritoryo at dapat itong mabalangkas bago pa matapos ang termino ng pangulo sa 2022
“Chinese President Xi agreed with President Duterte that there is a need for the formulation of the Code of Conduct and it should be crafted within the last remaining years of PRRD,” ani Panelo.
Tulad ng inaasahan, idiniga rin ni Duterte ang posibilidad ng joint gas exploration sa West Philippine Sea.
Ayon kay Panelo, sinabi ni Xi na dapat makapaghanda ang aatasang komite ng isang ‘substantive program’ para sa itinutulak na code of conduct.
Una nang ibinunyag ng pangulo ang planong joint-oil exploration sa hatiang 60-40 pabor sa Pilipinas.
Samantala, napag-usapan din ng dalawang lider ang pagbangga ng Chinese vessel sa bangka ng 22 mangingisdang Pinoy sa Recto Bank.
Ayon kay Panelo, inamin at kinumpirma ng China ang responsibilidad nila sa insidente.
Ipinahayag naman umano ng pangulo ang ‘appreciation’ sa kahandaan ng China na magbigay ng civil compensation para sa naapektihang mga mangingisda.
“He (Duterte) expressed appreciation of China’s readiness to provide compensation to our fishermen who almost lost their lives,”
Sa huli sinabi ni Panelo na naging maganda ang bilateral meeting nina Duterte at Xi.
